WASHINGTON....

THURSDAY 7th...... Well the day is not as sunny as yesterday but warmer!! We set off at 9am and head for Arlington Cemetery...

Some interesting buildings!

 

Federal Reserve....show me the money!!!

 

2 feet and a heart beat off to the Arlington Cemetry across the Arlington Memorial Bridge....this statue was give to the Americans by the Italians!

Yep the building on the hill ...that's where we are headed!!!

A bit of ice on the river....around 4 degrees Celsius but doable as its not windy!!!

 

 

4hundred thousand graves at the moment but it will reach its full capacity in around 5 yrs!!! Every grave had a Christmas reef on it ....amazing cost!!!

The Kennedy graves...John...Jackie and 2 infant graves one...a boy 2 days old Patrick and another infant grave to the left of Jackie unnamed girl grave....the other Kennedy graves are scattered in the hill alongside!

 

Beautiful magnolia trees surround the Kennedy memorial....

Entrance into the Smithosian museums...

Enid A Haupt garden ...over4 acres opened in 1987.... Standing on the roofs of 3 museums...shame it was winter...it must be a beautiful site!!!

 

 

 

Crypt of James Smithson ...of which the Smithsonian was named after!!

What a find....outdoors...special!

 

 

 

 

 

Capitol Hill...congress..under scaffolding...being cleaned!! Buck and I parted ways ....I did the museums of my choice...he did the aero nautical and the American historical museum...I did the National Gallery of Art and the American Indian...also wanted to see another but was closed for restoration ...bugger!!

Coming up to thrArt gallery and watched the squirrels trapeze on the wooded vine!!!

Inside the gallery...the inside gardens are so beautiful!!

 

 

Out the back door....

Museum of American Indian including all races of Indian....Incas...Bolivians...Eskimos..Cherokee etc etc....

Baby carrier....adorned depending on their statute in the tribe..carried on the mothers back!!!

 

Great exhibition of the Inca Trail...amazing !!! Some parts of the 24,000 mile of trail are still in use today ...puts today's engineering to shame!!

Que!!!!????

Chinatown for dinner!!

Scorpion cocktails !!!!

Bit of a sting......a good end to our day!!!!
