WASHINGTON.....GEORGETOWN...

FRIDAY 8th......After exhausting myself of all the museums yesterday including the Jewish Memorial...which I might say was excellent .....I needed some old world culture so Buck went back to the aeronautical museum and I walked around through DuPont Circle and into Georgetown!!

Historic District...known as the Old City of Washington...

Strivers section....upper middle class African American....negro aristocracy ...DuPont circle was planned by architect Pierre Charles Enfant and it's a pretty part of Washington...

Headed off to the left of DuPont Circle over the bridge into upper Georgetown headed towards Dumbarton House...gardens open...house closed...a problem I incur today as during the month of January museums and gardens shut down for maintenance !!!

4 ram statues..,2 on either side of bridge...impressive looking!!

Dumbarton House...

Pretty garden even in the winter!

Houses in the streets of Georgetown...

This was completely closed for maintenance ...bugger!!

So pretty...

Pics below....

George Washington frequently visited this house when he was planning the city...

Ground floor kitchen....

Master bedroom...

Children's rooms in the attic...

Lunch.....a place called Pie Sisters.....3 local sisters got together and opened up an eatery ....I got there and orders in bags adorned the cafe that people had placed....I sat down to enjoy a piece of chicken pot pie....a piece of Key lime.....bloody delicious ....washed down with a healthy cup of green tea!!!

Canal through Georgetown...

GEORGETOWN...she's in some need of TLC.....

Washington Harbour waterfront...

Fine misty rain all day!!

Another skating rink...wasn't game myself!!!!

Our hotel....Lombardy...one of many National trust hotels!!

Foyer...Art deco...

A wooden screen door which opens to your main room door!

Compact but comfortable!!!

Ladies dressing table...

Bathroom...only thing I desire is a bloody kettle so I can boil water for a cup of tea...Americans and their coffee machines !!!!
